Seanin on Saying Goodbye to Brigid – The Power of the Authentic You

I’m a student of success. It fascinates me. I can see it happening and I’m great at spotting that moment right before someone’s career just explodes into greatness. I can spot talent, even in its raw form. Especially in its raw form.

In the traditional business world I studied books like “Good to Great”and “Death by Meeting.”

But in the entrepreneurial space I’ve been fascinated by the solo entrepreneur with an authentic and vulnerable voice.

Brigid is one such soul.

I’ve been witnessing her gaining momentum. I’ve noticed that her FB Lives that used to be seen by 100 people are now seen by over a thousand within a day. She’s been getting press and her name is appearing more and more in my circles.

So when she announced a name change right in the midst of this momentum – I thought “Wow! That is freaking courageous.”

I reached out to her and asked to post it here. In all it’s raw-and-heartfeltedness form for you to read.

And be inspired by.

And be supportive of.

Because embracing parts of ourselves that we have rejected, forgotten and lost touch with, is HARD to do.

Doing it publicly is even harder.

On Being Seanin…

My name is changing everywhere.

I took Brigid on as an alias, for a number of reasons involving privacy, but largely about panic. I was terrified about being ‘caught out’ on the internet doing ‘woo stuff.’

Then all of a sudden it hit me that I was hiding. I was covering up what I AM, not what I do.

Because that’s what I’ve been giving. That’s what I’ve been putting out. MYSELF.

Seanin is the granddaughter of Sean McHugh. He was the first person in my life, and the last, to NEVER be mad, upset, cruel or disappointed in me.

For the entirety of my life, he was unreservedly, enthusiastically, and unconditionally my biggest and best friend and fan.

There are countless pictures- like the one below – that he took. Videos too, as he loves a gadget.

I am finally, at age thirty two, seeing myself through his eyes. I am loving me, honoring me, and listening when he said ‘you are different.’

I’ve been to quite a few clairvoyants and mediums since his passing. Every single time he’s said, ‘Forget every single person who treats you like you’re nothing. You are made for bigger than what they taught you.’

He was right.

The reason I am here, the reason I went public, the reason I moved to Brighton, the reason I trusted Steve and agreed to marry him – and this is the truth – is because he always found a way to get me a message. An affirmation.

It was HIM, through my grief and through these powerful healers, who told me what to do at every turn. And every time? What he told me already matched what I felt in my heart.

He knew my heart. He knows it still.

You say my name Shineen. That’s how it sounds. It’s spelt wrong on my birth certificate, but the Life Path number is 11, so I forgive it. In August I will change my last name too.

It means ‘God’s Gracious Gift.’ I never believed that. I have been told the opposite more times than most people, smashed down and hurt too often, to even try.

Now I believe it. And it’s because of the love that this man showed me, that I can.

I talk to him every single day. Every day. I hear his voice, and I sing him songs he loves. Even when I have felt entirely abandoned, entirely alone, and pushed out by those supposed to love me, I still have him.

And he believes in me. So do I.

So do I.

So I reintroduce myself to you. I am Seanin. That is my name, and this ‘work’ is who I am. He always knew it. The universe always knew it. And if you ask me what I do, I’ll tell you what I am.

Seanin. Granddaughter of Sean, the man who gifted me with God.
